They were on the endangered species list in Australia but have repopulated enough that they are no longer considered endangered. Australia has not exported any gliders since the 1950's. Most of the gliders that were shipped into the USA were wild caught from Indonesia and New Guinea. There are now enough gliders in the USA that there is no longer a need to import the wild caught gliders. Many people own captive bred gliders that came oop right here in our own good ole USA.
