: : Now this to me is a scarey thought. I use the mixed frozen vegitables with fresh fruit that I cut up and then place into individual serving size bags. I am unable physically to grow any veggies myself and now have a fear of feeding my gliders any purchased produce.

: Cynthia,
: If you buy organically grown fruits and veggies you won't have to worry about genetic engineering or pesticides (and yes some stores even carry organic frozen veggies.)

: By the way, genetically altered food has to go through testing by the USDA, EPA, and FDA before it can be approved for human consumption. Companies alter crops for a number of reasons including resistance to plant diseases or herbicides, ability to grow in harsher environments, better taste or increased nutrition, or higher-yield crops. Types of genetic engineering range from selective breeding, culturing, or modification of DNA or insertion of DNA from another type of organism. It is very expensive for companies to do the research and get through all the red tape of having them approved so that is a limiting factor on how much of the food in the supermarket is actually altered.
good point about the organicly grown food. its nothing to be
worried about yet but the altering is even bad for humans.
i meen you gotta thing did God make food to be altered??
nobody knows what they are doing to alter it really.
and i know stuff about the government that would make you all
puke. they don't care much about there people.
sorta like in NJ and other states when they sprayed for mesqiutos.
some people are seriously allergic to that stuff.
they were spraying chemicals on fields and ponds.
just like they want to put floride in water. the stuff is dangerious in the human
body. its good in tooth paste for teeth but swallowing it is bad.
in some cases we have even became guinny pigs for the government.
stuff like altered food may not human people right away
nor may it hurt our pets right away but one day when ur glider is sick
and you ask what did u do. somewhere along there you could
of fed it geneticly altered food. i don't even feed my glider corn.
but i do remember on the news that people didn't want there crops or food
altered by a bunch of pill popping scientists. i think
right now organic food is good. but they are mostly starting to do this
on corn and stuff so i wouldn't worry about fruit right now.
