: don't know your age, but they are not for young people who don't have patience to play with them at night or early morning cos theyare night animals. you'll need support of parents cos of "some" noice and smell. they need lots of stuff that gets expensive when you add it up, food (needs to be cut and fixed fresh everynight on clean dishes), toys(wodent wheels, hamster balls, tree limbs ect) and cages and sleeping arangements.(pouches, boxes ect.) you have to provide good care for them on vacations, vet bills can be high (if you can find a vet) and theeir illnesses are food related, you have to know about calcium and phosphorous ratios, and protien. they can be mean and disappointing at first if you expect instant love cos you have to build trust and a relationship and you shouldn't get one only if you can't spend much time, (how would you like to be the only species of your kind locked in a cage all night with no one to play with?) I love my two to death but i had a male first and he got lonely so i got him a mate and she is sweet and he warms up to me but he still bites me when i go to get him out of cage. once he's out he's fine but it "hurts" my feelings when he bites me, not to mention drawing blood. they are loving and fun to watch play but i get up at 3:30 every morning to play with them.
