I have had no problem using cat food as a suplemental protein. However I stress it is just supplemental. I feed a generous portion of leadbeater's as the main staple and use Prune flavored gerber fruit in the recipe. The plus side to it is the ease of use and the knowledge that if you don't get home on time they won't be starving. However, intestinal blockage is a side effect of cat food as well as banana's etc. just think if YOU eat a whole bunch (of bananas) you will get stopped up, so you should eat prunes or bran to loosen you up. The normal pellet foods used for chinchillas and rabbits have the same effect, hard & small defication. It is the same theory with Sugargliders. If you maintain a well balanced diet, inc. fruit, protein, calcium rich dairy, and grains then you should have no problem using catfood as a supplement.

However, I must stress that at no time should you use catfood as the main staple. This meathod of use is what caused the intial problems with catfood. Balance is the key to healthy living in all animals. People and Gliders. Ashjan.
