As for housing them together I am glad that you decided not to. Not only in a colony is there usually one alpha male and one alpha female but males and females alike have been known to fight to the death. In the wild they will try to run off unacceptable gliders but in captivity we greatly reduce their territory and the places that they can run off to. Also the dominant female will often distroy the young of the submissive female.
