I'm not writing this to say that you should have this done- it's the best for the little girl. The entire point of this is to make sure before hand that you will be given some kind of collar for them. My glider was neutered last Wednesday. The doctor had never done it before, but he read up for 3 months just for me. It went very very well. Then Jonesy decided that self mutilation was a neat hobby and we ended up at Animal Emergency Services at 1am with a RED glider. The next night he pulled out the stitches that AES gave him. They tried making all sorts of odd collars- they didn't have small animal e-collars. None of them worked for more than 5 minutes. Today he went back to the usual vet who glued him up. The vet and I had both gotten the same article- Veterinary Medicine from (I think) October. It stated that gliders do not have a problem with pulling out stitches or bothering the site, but may need a collar for a few days. Just as a precaution, ask for a REAL e-collar (they work well), or at least something to try to keep their neck straight. Your gliders will be much better off with this, even if they can't eat on their own for awhile. Please keep this in mind!! Amy and Jonesy
