: I recently was at my pet store and they have a male sugar glider who they need to find a home for I was wondering if i could keep just one sugar glider i have a tremendous amout of time that I will be able to spend with him and will be able to give him alot of love and affection, I dearly want to save him from the pet store for they have told my that they do not have the time to work with him will it be ok for me to get him alone?

Absolutely. If you have the time and love, a single sugar glider can be the best pet. It is often suggested to get two gliders simply because most people won't spend the 2 hours MINIMUM daily thats necessary for a single glider. You do NOT have to get two. In fact, when you have two gliders, they will spend more love and time with each other than you. One glider is always more affectionate and loving.
But you want to buy him from a pet store? This is usually bad, pet store gliders are usually not in good shape. Depending on where you are, this board could provide you with a number for a good breeder.
But I see, you have one of those hearts of gold, and want to 'rescue' this particular glider. I understand that. But first, ask the pet store...are they going to be selling gliders in the future? If so, what keeps them from not being able to take care of them then? If they aren't going to stop selling gliders, I urge you not to support them by buying this one.
Good luck and keep us informed! If you haven't done extensive research yet, a great place to start is Bourbon's website...shown below.
