I have also seen several people post that they need help after buying their glider..not before hand. After reading several trading posts I have seent hat many people are trying to sell or give away adult gliders. I was wondering if anyone knew the amount of gliders abandoned each year. What are the chances of a new owner keeping a glider for more than 2 years? If you run a shelter, your information could be helpful here. I'm posting this out of concern. Since we became a shelter we have rescued a total of 10 gliders. That is in less than one year. Of those ten two have died, three went to new homes and two paired up to become a new bloodline in our breeding list. Of those ten four were let go by two people just barely out of their teens. One was starved almost to death, (see Rocky's story on real stories) his parents where obese and one was the sweetest glider I have ever met. One was given to me by a pet store. He was at least a year old when he was dumped on the pet store because his mate had died. He has since become a great papa. Of the other five, the three oldest found a new home, one became a mate for one rescue we kept, and one is still awaiting a home.
