Hi Lori,
I think W has the right idea about appeasing them with treats (I give Eos a grape cut into fourths) That way, they have something else to bite! Also, I use baby nail clippers so that her nail won't split. Be sure to just cut off the tiny part at the very tip. Once, I cut a nail too far back, and just like ours, SG's will bleed and hurt for awhile if you cut them into the quick. Also, once, even though it didn't hurt her, I cut them back too far and she couldn't climb on things for a few days. My advice is be conservative at first, til you get a feel for how far back to go. I cut Eos'about once a week - I hold her against me with one palm and cut with the other hand. It's easier to do in the day when she's sleepy. Also, try not to pull back if your baby nips or grumbles so he'll learn to deal with it.
Good luck!
Tiffany

: I purchased my glider 1 week ago his nails are very sharp and just runnung on my arms or legs causes many scratches. I have read that you can hold them in a towel to cut their nails but this seems like it will upset them. Wondering if it would be better to take them to a vet to have this done that way they don't feel like your doing something mean to them.
