I just read an article that made me rather angry. It was in the 2000 edition of Critters USA. The article is called "Kid Friendly Pets" and guess what was listed as one of them???? you guessed it. Among the rats, mice, hamsters and chinchillas they listed sugar gliders as a good pet for a responsible child. How many sugar gliders are going to suffer because of that article alone? It doesnt go into any detail about the specific diet, bonding, and all of their other needs. It just mentions that SG's need some extra attention. In many ways the article adressed the topic of children owning pets in a very appropriate honest way, but it was absolutely ridiculous to recommend a sugar glider for a pet for a child! I am planning on writing a letter to the editor. Thanks for letting me vent! TaraRae
