I am really screamish about meal worms, but they are the only source of protein weedeil likes. Whenever I give them to him (now every night), he tears into them like they are the most delicious thing in the world. I pick them up with tweezers. They are now weedeil's favorite food, so you might want to give them a shot. Warning, no one told me this...they CRUNCH...the sound is horrible, but my baby loves it, so I'm getting used to it.
