If it were my glider, I would definitely to back to the vet especially considering there has been a definite change in the little one's tail. I've know another woman whose glider got it's tail hurt in a fight and had to be partially amputated. She did fine and actually was quite unique with her bobbed tail. I wouldn't take any chances with the swelling and all. You don't want to get an infection that will move to the rest of the body.
I know it's hard when their vet bill is bigger than they are, but I think in this case going back to the vet is the thing to do. Maybe he will let you pay it out or something.
