it depends.. on a bird cage there isn't many cross beams, which may prove to be a problem, if you are talking about the 1/2 X 1 inch squares.. the chances are slim to nil, if you are talking about 1/2 squares.. then that is definitly not a prob..the cross wires add stabilty to the vertical wires itself. As so they can't push through them..also when using a bird cage, watch the wires at the bottom, on some cheaper cages the floor bottoms have a wider spacing..
