Personally, I don't think you should get ANY other pet because you obviously expect them to entertain you. Yes, birds poop. So do you. Cockatiels are one of the most interesting, cuddly pets around. You should go to the library and check out books on cockatiels to learn more about them. If you cockatiel is such a pain, then you should give him to someone who would appreciate him.
