Some may think I am just awful but i have something I do, and highly suggest it for others..
clean the pan once a week, wipe off the OUTSIDFE of the cage once a week, we wash our pouches about once every 3 months, and the toys/branches as well, but never all at the same time, always do either just the toys, or the branches, or the pouch..we do a thourough cage cleaning about once every 5 or 6 months..at this time we do NOT do the toys/branches/ or pouch.. the reason for this is, that over cleaning will make them think their marking isn't working, therefore; they will mark it more and much heavier each time. thinking the last one wasn't enough to hold the smell.. if allowed as said earlier the smell will dissapate.. also as said earlier, the more (untreated) wood you have in the cage, the more it absorbs..
