: Do gliders go into a diabetic shock if they are not given sugary fruit within a few hours after they awaken at night? A breeder around here told me this and I had never heard it before.

I have one male who wants to run like the wind just after getting up. On several occasions he has gone into shock and I had to use honey and water to bring him around. If I make in stay in the cage until he is fully awake and has eaten something he is fine when let out.

Remember their little engines burn energy at a very fast rate and if they have just woken up and immediatley start burning energy at a higher rate they can reach a point where they have no sugars left to keep things going.
