I agree with the others. Gliders are expensive and require a lot
of care. They are also nocturnal. Mine doesn't wake up until
10 - 10:30, and then she wants to play.

They can also stink up the place. My glider, while female,
constantly 'marks' everything she climbs on with little drops of
urine. This includes me.

They cannot be 'housebroken'. A glider's motto is "where you
be, set it free."

I understand that they live up to 15 years, and an abandoned glider
is a basketcase. It is cruel to let them bond to you and then
give them up for some reason.

Speaking of bonding, that is a difficult process as well. Fortunatly
there is a great deal of information on the 'net about this. This page is one
source, as is Bourbon and Baybe's page.

They are illegal in California and some other states.

Be aware of the implications before you get one. If you do decide to get one
they can be a great addition to the family. They have loads of personality
and are very playful (this may keep you up at night). I take mine to work, church,
and school 6 - 7 days a week. It's kinda neat to have such a low-profile pet. No
one knows you have a varmint with you unless you tell them.

Good luck,

Ben
