As for safety-- there is no chance they will hurt themselves or damage their toes on a wire cage.

: : Couple of things. I personally don't like the idea of keeping the SG in a Large Closet. It simulates darkness 24 hrs. a day; the ventilation is not good and I don't consider it a "safe" environment. You did not mention the sex of your SGs. If one is a male, then it won't be too long before the odor of scent marking will overwhelm the closet and the room. There is no way to CLEAN the closet adequately. Living quarters for SG MUST be kept very clean in order to insure their good health.

: : As for the plastic on the bottom of the closet, SG are very into chewing or tearing up anything they can. My concern is they will chew through the plastic. This will not only cause ingestion problems, but also a hazard with their getting under the plastic and not being able to free themselves.
