Thanks but I am far from an expert.. however, the marsupial replacer was designed for wallabys and kangaroos, who have very different nutrional needs than a gliders. Also they are much bigger animals. All the vets I have spoken with about this, have told me the same thing. That the replacer is very depanant on several different things..
1. it is based on the age of the glider.. EXACT age,
2. it is based on the weight. The EXACT weight.
and it must be fed accordingly, each day as the joey grows, the formula also changes.
We have also found where many joeys will not drink the marsupial replacer, that it must be added to something else. I personally think that changes the reasoning behind the replacers.
at the link below under rejected joeys, we have had several people HAVE to hand raise joeys around various ages. Find out what has worked for them. Virginia, also found out the replacer wasn't working for her either. So I am sure she will write us a story for the rejected/orphaned joeys pages as well.
Keep in mind that our opposums are also marsupials, however they are also rodents, so the word marsupial is only a blanket word meaning " having a pouch". Don't make the mistake of grouping them all together.. That is where the lactose controversy came in. a Study based on Wallaby's who is lactose intolerant, not gliders..
