You know I would soften them up by using the microwave or if you don't have one - by boiling them in chunks. I wouldn't feed it to them hot of course, but I think it would be easier for them to eat. If you use the microwave they will not lose their nutritional value. I also know for humans you are not to eat them raw, so I would assume it the same for them.. Just a suggestion..
