Well, fellas, I've searched in many places to try to find the answer to this same question, because it can be very annoying at times. There just doesn't seem to be any information on this(thatI can find).
Marking is part of it, however, I prefer to think that they are so excited to see you and play outside their cage that they just sorta lose control at times.
If you notice there is a difference - sometimes they just sort of "spot" on places(I think that is excitement) but sometimes, like the alarm clock,it is deliberate. This is think has something to do with the marking process.
Don't take this is gospel, just my theory. If I'm totally off base, rest assured someone will have the correct answer or another theory.
I also think it's just part of being a glider owner.
