I remember awhile back someone asked about why gliders loop their tails, I dont remember all the replies, but here's another answer.

Last night I was watching my gliders in their cage, they have this little bird toy plastic ladder thing with a small square mirror and some beads on it. They love to chew on it and knock it to the bottom of the cage but last night was an exception! I've heard about giders in the wild carrying leaves and sticks in their tails but now I've seen it! Jerry looped his tail again and made it really tight so that when you straighten the tail out it goes right back into the loop. He would walk backwards up the cage with the ladder in his mouth trying to drag it up, the next thing I saw he was walking up the side of the cage with the ladder in his tail!!!! I did not know he could do that, or that he could carry that much weight on his tail. I dont know how he got the ladder onto his tail loop, but it was amazing watching him. Cher started to do it after too, but she just had the loop in her tail, she didnt do any carrying. It really makes me wonder if they can maybe hang from their tails, at least for a very short time. Maybe, maybe not but its very interesting.
