I know how you feel and it might be all right now. I'm just extra cautious because I have had 2 joeys rejected. May not be because I held them but can't be sure. I know most people hold them before their eyes open and I did too. I'm going to wait though on the joeys Lucy's expecting now.
It's almost more of a temptation than one can stand. Use your own best judgement.
As for the new owner, once their eyes have been open for about a week, I think it is an excellent idea. If they can see them about once a week until time to go, it would be even better. I went and spent time with mine once a week until it was time for them to come home. It certainly made bonding alot easier
