I wanted to post a story I heard froma close friend about this. I would have posted it on sg.net but I loath the board and the self satisfied prats there and refuse to re-register to give advise.
I have know of one glider who survived mutilating himself twice. Once he injured his tail and had most of it amputated and the other time he was neutered and tore the stitches out of his stomach leaving a inch long gap in his belly. The owners sat up with this glider for 7 days the first time and two weeks the next never allowing him to leave them. 24 hours surveillance. He is now fine and healthy. I have spoken to the owners, handled their little devil and spoken to the vet who handled this glider so it is a real story. With extreme love and patience when a glider is seriously attacking a wound they can survive even after self mutilation has started.
