: Petsmart also sells some cool bird branches that are glider safe as far as I know. Percy loves his and Mary another glider own I know, has Peep and he likes his also. Just a thought. Get lots of toys, possibly a wodent wheel if you can. They love them.

I am a hobby breeder and have investigated this thoroughly. First of all the Pine is not good for gliders. Aspen Shavings are inexpensive and acceptable. Corn Cob Bedding too, although sometimes my gliders try to eat the corn cob bedding which is not good for them because they urinate on them. I have just switched to aspen because of that. Corn Cob does absorb the smell better though, but Aspen works. As far as the branches, people say that Oak is toxic. I use completely dead oak branches, place them in the oven for 2 minutes on 200 to get all the parasites off. I have put them with joeys for 5 months and have never had a problem. But my glider's very favorite is the manzanita branch which is sold retail. They come in different sizes and the glider loves to chew on them and they are very safe. Plus they look cool in your cage. They last a long time and are easier to clean than the natural tree branches (like some fruit trees). Pets.com has the best prices (I've checked them all). Aspen $9.74 for 7000 cu inches, and Manzanita Branches 16" for 8.99. Please visit my site and click on pets.com icon. They will give me credit so I can buy some more.
