I got my first male, Ichabod, neutered and he did just fine. I got to watch the whole thing and the vet even taught me while he worked by explaining a lot about glider anatomy. It only took about 15 minutes, was very simple, and all the recovery he needed was a resting box to lay in for about 30 minutes afterwards while he woke up from the anesthetic. Then I got to take him home and he was able to eat and drink that night with no problem.
You do need to keep an eye on them afterwards to make sure that they don't mess with their surgery spot too much. My Ichabod didn't have a problem with it.
I really haven't noticed a personality change in him and I got it done about 2-3 months ago. In fact I am taking me other lil guy, Toby, in tomorrow to get him fixed too.

However, after all of this I must say that I have a WONDERFUL, knowledgable vet and I think that makes a ton of difference.
