I have mixed feelings about gliders with college students. On the positive side, as a college student, I was up very late every night, either studying or just hanging out. My schedule was the same as a gliders. I probably would have had time for a glider in college. YOu can always take a study break for something as cute and fun as a glider. On the negative, if you live in a dorm, you can't have a glider. They don't allow pets, and a glider cage is too big to sneak in-you'd have to live off campus. Also, making the time to go grocery shopping for your glider would be a pain, fresh fruit is needed every week. Also, college students are always broke! Another thing, would you be responsible enough to take care of your glider and protect it? Loud music, parties, friends seeing it and letting it out or not being gentle with it, etc. etc. are things to consider. Also, if you live far away from home, what are you going to do with it when you go home, or spring break when you go to Florida or something? I'm not saying yes or no to this question of having a glider in college, but it is a big responsibility to take care of something when you are just getting used to being out on your own yourself.
