I don't know much but I remember reading that all prunus species (peachtree, plumtree, apricottree etc.) are poisonous (contain cyanide) though they are fruit trees. Appletree, oak, cottonwood, arbutus are supposed to be fine. But if you find lists of safe/unsafe trees, please tell me. I have been looking for one.
