Sarah, make sure your vet runs a fecal for parasites and does a culture to test for any bacteria that may be present. Other than that...make sure you wash your hands really well after handling/playing with your gliders. I'm currently at the 6 month mark and haven't had any problems. I also had gliders while pregnant with my son and had no problems during that pregnancy that were glider related.
You also may want to get someone else to clean cages if you can...
