I am so sorry for your poor baby. I am glad you are taking him to have the vet check. I don't have any experience with this, but if he is eating and active and not chewing or overly licking the toe, I would just keep it clean and put the ointment on it. I don't know what is in A & D. Neosporin is also very good. Just keep a very close eye on him. Let us know what the doc says.
