A dowel is a round piece of wood that you find in many bird cages. They can be purchased at hardware stores, hobby stores, pet shops in the bird section, etc. I'm not sure what kind of wood they are made of. They come in all diameters. It is obvious from this post, that dowels should not be used in SG cage for them to climb on just to be on the safe side. I use only natural fruit woods.
