Rather than reach in there, try looking at her and talking to her to get her awake. Maybe you are startling her. Have a treat and when she looks hold it toward her and let her come to the treat. While she is eating, try petting her. Then just leave your hand in the pouch with her. Let her go to sleep and feel your hand there and get used to it.
