I understand your sentiments, and agree that Katie was using some extrememly flawed "logic" and some pretty hostile attitudes. Personally, though, I prefer to try to bring someone around and get them to consider the other side of an issue rather than running them off -- ultimately, that doesn't help anyone.

In this case we're talking about a young person with a moral cause that she was very passionate (though not real logical) about. All the facts we could have provided her probably wouldn't have changed her mind, and it's too bad she wasn't open-minded enough to consider the things everyone was telling her before lashing out. I can remember being young and always right, so I can't really hold it against her! She'll mature eventually and learn that it's better to consider all sides and get all the facts before taking such a strong stand on an issue. Her experiences in vet training will probably open her eyes to a lot of things she hasn't considered yet at this stage of her life.

I hope she'll continue to monitor this page, though, because the things she can learn about this species from the people who own, care for, and love gliders are very valuable, especially considering her career choice. We can always use more vets who are well-educated about gliders.
