I have read this whole argument over breeding your gliders. Some are for it and some are against it. If you are so afraid about selling your gliders to people who know nothing about gliders and that they will be poorly take care of your babies, why don't you educate them yourself? I have put together a Sugar Glider Guide to give to my buyers that includes every little thing I could think of plus other tips from other breeders and internet sites. I tell them all the pluses and negatives to owning a Sugar Glider. But there are really not that many negatives if you think about it. I also check up on the new owners to see how they are getting along with the glider, how the glider is treated, and how are the living conditions of the baby glider. I tell the owner that I might make these unexpected visits every once and a while.
For those who feel that people shouldn't breed because there are to many unwanted gliders in this world I feel that is partly because not that many people even know what a sugar glider is or what they look like. When they think of a flying squirrel they think of Rocky the flying squirrel. If only more people knew then maybe then there wouldn't be so many unwanted sugar gliders. Then again if sugar gliders became as popular as cats and dogs there would probably still be unwanted gliders just as there is unwanted cats and dogs.
Wherther to breed or to not breed is completely up to the owner and his or her opinion.
