the time you were deleted here was as part of a mass deletion of a nasty thread that lasted too long. We deleted everything around you- heck yes we could have left you but yopu would have been a sole message! That really wasnt personal. I forgot how much you make sense welcome back!
: Hi Jane -

: LOL!!! You sound alot like me. Believe it or not, I am a hothead and a "tell it like it is" type person in the worst way, but I've learned to tone it down a bit and kill people with kindness - its alot more effective that way. Your information and experience is a very valuable tool on this board so personally, I'd hate to see you leave - but what I'm talking about here is that its all in the WAY it's presented. Not trying to criticize here, or maybe I am, but tempers don't get through to people - rationality does, and that should be our main objective here.

: I see what you mean - someone gets a pair of gliders, and all of a sudden, they're a BREEDER. Someone reads a bit, and they feel confident enough to answer questions however wrong their responses are. Sure, everyone has their own techniques and theories - and some answers and advice are down right wrong - but instead of standing up and shouting "HEY - YOU'RE WRONG!!!!", why don't you say "I see your point - but maybe if you did it this way, it would work better for you because it worked for me" - See what I'm getting at here?

: You have to realize that some people HAVE NO common sense. Never did, never will. But not everyone with a question or a misguided answer is a moron. Those are the people that we have to reach and teach (could that be a new slogan here? REACH & TEACH!! LOL!!!). They have learned some incorrect information are dispensing it as advice - our job is to help turn them around, so their glider(s) will benefit.

: The other thing you have to realize is that we can't save them all. God, it would be nice if we could, but the reality is that we can't. When someone comes to me for advice, and I oblige, its THEIR job and THEIR responsibility to go home and use it. If they don't and then their glider is injured, gets sick or even dies, then they are at fault, not me. I can sleep at night knowing that short of actually going to their house, and kidnapping the glider and fixing the problem myself, that I gave it my best shot. Believe me, there have been times that I wish I could have done just that, but I would have landed in jail.

: As for your posts being deleted, its happened to me, too - I came back to Glider Gossip and left a message that was misconstrued as argumentive and deleted. Then I went to SugarGlider.net and the same thing happened. I thought "Son of a B*tch! I take MY time and MY effort to get MY thoughts out on this board and they have the NERVE to delete it???". I was ready to call Bourbon and tell her I wasn't going to waste my time anymore, but then I thought I'd give it one last ditch effort with this thread - and it worked - or at least I got a few people's attention. And I didn't get deleted!!!! But I PRESENTED my information in a different way this time - see what I mean now?

: Now whether it has any effect or not, I don't know. But maybe I made some people here think about what they're doing and the way they're replying. But other than changing Glider Gossip over to a "Ask the Experts" type board where someone appoints a team to answer questions, I don't know what else I can do than poke my head in here and see whats going on. I can't stop other people from giving incorrect information and bad advice. I can only offer what I know to be good info and let them choose which one they want to listen to. There is nothing I can do beyond that.

: So Jane, don't go anywhere - when you see bad advice being given, take a deep breath and count to ten - walk away from the computer if you have to, or sleep on it even. THEN when you get your thoughts together, give your opinion in a calm, rational way. Let the original poster make up their minds about what they want to do - at that point, the matter is out of your hands, so their is no sense in getting upset and blasting someone. Its a waste of energy - I don't know about you, but at my age, I need all the energy I can conserve!!!

: Man, I gotta stop being so long-winded.........

: : KifKaf sorry to disagree but I do.
: : I hate the candy coating of other sites. Sg.net got me so mad I deleted every email with glider in it for three weeks without reading them. Getting rid of absolute nastiness is ok but if I am ever deleted for telling it as it is as I was on sg.net I will be gone and NEVER come back.
: : Idiots post with incorrect info and I WILL blast those people as they will end up killing gliders. People seem to be too stupid to use common sense. That isnt my fault but I will come in to tell the person asking how they are being misdirected.
: : Too many fools read one or two pages and then call themselves an expert and post pages with lethal advice.
: : If that makes me a chief with no sense I will leave gladly.

: : : Well, I'm going to start a new thread. Haven't done it in a while, but I think there is a need - seems that we have too many chiefs here and not enough indians.

: : : In light of all the recent differences of opinion on breeding, neutering and euthanasia, I can see there are alot of passionate people on this board. This is a good thing. But haven't you guys heard yet that you can catch more flies with honey???

: : : Education is the key here. Instead of getting all hot and bothered about messages here, can't you guys seize the opportunity to HELP, rather than HINDER??? Offer advice and EDUCATE the newbies or those that are having valid problems. This is a place to GAIN INFO, not to get slammed. And sometimes its not WHAT you say, its HOW you say it. When someone is personally attacked, then they retaliate, and the original problem doesn't get solved. And who suffers for it? The glider.

: : : I, myself, have dealt with alot of people over the years with rescues, babies, new pet owners and people who just email me with questions. Sure, sometimes I think "God, what a moron", but I offer the advice in a way that is acceptable SO THE ANIMAL WILL BENEFIT. Meaning, not to upset the owner and run them off, because then the animal suffers. You have to sort of "reel them in" and set the hook with a solution to their problem. There is no way to reel a person in that has just been blasted for asking a question, let alone setting the hook. Granted, some people just don't want to listen, but at least you can feel good that you TRIED.

: : : I don't recognize alot of your names here anymore - I know Bourbon, Jane and a few others - but the names are about all that has changed here. I left this board a while back because of all the bickering that was going on - I came back because Bourbon kept getting on my case about it. But I'm starting to regret that I decided to stop by, because the whole point of this board gets lost in all the arguing.

: : : I'd like to propose that we all make a pact to not freak out when someone asks a question but see what we can do to help instead. At all costs, lets remember the advice from Cynthia - GO FOR THE GOOD OF THE GLIDER. That is our main concern here, and when we get mad, that does not get accomplished. I'd like to stay and do what I can to help people, but I'm afraid I can't if this keeps up - I simply don't have the patience for it. So what do ya say? Anybody in agreement?

: : : Ok B - how'd ya like that one??? Can ya back me up here?
