Cynthia, a dear friend and close advisary in the search for what is healthy for gliders. A strong member of our intense research team and a personal confidant that is very dear to my heart has requested for her final wishes this email be posted for all of her friends to see.. On Monday, June 26, one of Cynthias doctors informed her that her pancreas is reaching the end. Waiting is no longer an option, only surgery soon or terminal maintenance. She has elected to rule out surgery. There are too many factors involved. It would not, in the best of outcomes, return her to a productive life. There are too many other problems. Further, it would leave her on a ventilator with an unlikely chance of getting off the vent. To her, this is a worse outcome than dying on the operating table. Thus, she has elected to accept being "made comfortable" at home. With ever increasing pain meds, she will eventually go to sleep and not wake. There is, of course, no timetable for this. Something more than a few days, less than several months. Unless a cardiac event intervenes sooner. She has asked me to let her friends know as she has difficulty getting to the computer with her tube feeding and trying to stay off her right foot. Not to mention the frustration of her neuropathy interfering with her typing. Those who wish to reach her should do so by phone, 1-252-635-1269, not e-mail or chat program. Thank you all for being her friends, and bringing joy into her life. Please under no cicumstances send her cut flowers but living plants and other trinkets can be sent to.. Cynthia and Chuck 157 Sand Hill Rd., New Bern, N.C. 28560. Regards, Chuck
