Six weeks is really too young to be separated from the mother unless something happened to the mother.
Check this link for Bourbons page on diet, etc.
My gliders make this noise when they first wake up and see me. I have always thought it was their telling me to pick them up. They will also make it when I put them back in their cage ... sorta like, Mom I'm not ready to go back!
One other thing, have you checked with a vet to make sure this SG is healthy.
