Lucy rejected her first joey and I thought perhaps it was my fault. We were going to Florida for a week and I chose to take her with me rather than leave her at home. Perhaps she stressed over the trip. I do think her joey came oop too early for whatever.
The second time she had twins, and it was shortly apparent that the male was much smaller than the female. Like you I did what I could but the little fellow died in my hand.
Her third pregnancy has resulted in a strong, healthy male joey.
I prefer not to blame myself for the death of the previous two joeys but rather that for whatever reason there must have been something wrong with them.
Try not to feel too badly. You did the best you could. The other joey should be all right. Just keep the stress to a minimum until the surviving one is weened.
