Most vets are animal lovers and though they do need to charge money to make a living they will make special cases when people (and animals!) are in desperate situations!! Whether this means doing the work for free or working out a payment plan! I would suggest that you pull out a phone book wherever you are on vacation and start calling some vets!! Since you obviously have access to the internet, try on-line! You may have to drive a few hours outta your way, but if you can save the life of a creature that could potentially bring you 10-15 years of companionship, what is a few hours?!?!?

Have you checked glidernet (http://www.sugarglider.net) or the web page for the ISGA (www.isga.org)?
Both have sugar glider vet databases you can check by area!
