I first saw a Sugar Glider when I walked into a pet store here in TN. and they had a sign on a cage and a finch nest in it that these two small lil animals were in
Never really thought twice about them, until 3 months later when I went to the bird show and there was a guy there that lived down in Murfeeburo and he had 150+ joeys with him, some at least 6 weeks oops others seemed youngerhe was selling to just anyone.
I held one, fell in love but was NOT willing to chepordize this wonderful Glider nor myself until I even knew what the heck I was getting myself into. So I went home and this is where the research began.
I researched for 6 months, and then decided to call this guy and had it al set up to buy one of his joeys, we set a date for me to come out and I was going to drive 4 hours and thenhe said to me *I have a very speacial one, she is still needing to be fed by a dropper or a bottle, but I think after a few weeks you and her should be well bonded.
I thought to myself, is this what i really want, can I really take care of thie joey liek he is saying being a new mom and all.
So I decided against him, and started my search again.
I finally found a great guy down in IL. again a long ways from me, I had to drive 6 hours one way and I got there, I picked out the gliders and he sold me a cage and vitamins and a pouch and so forth.
He did however tell me they ate catfood, he gave me a small bag of catfood, and when I arrived home, I dumped the catfood in the cats dish and began my journey of feeding my babies what they deserved and what was best for them.
I then found this wonderful site and began feeding them Lead beaters along with the fruits and veggies.
So in a way yes it was impulse, then again kinda not.
