You really don't have to, give your glider a nest box it can sleep in. (like a cocatiel's nest box)

They always need go after they wake up. The only place they don't like to potty is in their bed.
Gliders potty freely. It's tiny poops and dime size piddles.

I'd like to know what powder coating is too. I have one cage that is and want the others done too.

Mine don't.

No, they're not awake, they ride along in a pocket or pouch during the day and would sleep through the whole day if undisturbed.

Yes they get used to riding along all day. As they get tamer, they get harder to wake up. The tame ones don't mind getting woke up.
