Wouldn't it be a better idea to wait til you get your car? That way you wont have the worry.. I know it is like what 2 years before you drive? I suppose that is a long time. But for a first time owner you also must keep in mind the things in your house that could be dangerous. They could hang themselves in miniblinds and things that hang.. wall outlets OUCH.. toilets, any standing water for that matter, lets see.. refigerators, behind stoves, washers and dryers.. Anyways you get the idea.. I just got my second glider and I am still researching.. Experience is the best learning tool though. I want to be a vet and have my own animal shelter one day just like you (dedicating my life to welfare of animals). I think its cool that you wanna take on this much responsibility.. I wish you the best of luck if you do decide to get one either way, just remember the best way to NOT have so many vet trips is to PREVENT them!! Out of curiosity though, why would your parents not take your glider to a vet if it were an emergency?? I mean if it just so happens its in the middle of the night, the only way a vet would help you is if it was an emergency anyways you know, would your parents honestly say no if your glider is like bleeding/choking/?? to death?? My mom hates animals but I dont think she would let them hurt like that. I think you should talk to them a little more and just tell them that you want to be responsible and make sure that ifyou get a glider you want it to have its needs met otherwise, it would be a a "not so responsible" decision to get one anyways.. Hey even if your parents cant or wont, also check if you have any friends or friends parents that would if needed.. Some peoples parents are cool like that .. atleast i had friends that were that way or if you have any friends that drive. Just make sure you have a back up plan and Good luck!
