Faye, It all depends on what you are looking for in a glider. If you are looking for a tight bond I suggest getting one and bonding with it first. If your husband is interested in bonding with one that would even be better. My hubby works during the day, my job and family allows me the freedom to stay home. There were a few things that could account for it being harder to bond with his Smokey. We let Baybe choose us. We chose Smokey. Also with Dean he spends his evenings and weekends with Smokey and I am able to spend all day with Baybe. Smokey was allowed to be introduced to others BEFORE the bonding took place Baybe wasn't till we bonded. We had Baybe first and made sure there was a tight bond first, whereas Smokey was more interested in Baybe than in spending time with Dean. Was it personality? We really don't know, What we have learned however is that this things are important to a tight bond. You have to decide how far you want to bond and what the word will mean to YOU. My husband is happy with the bond he does have with Smokey, for me however I am happy with the bond I have with Baybe. When asked if he wanted to try to get a tighter bond with one of the Joeys his response was "I am perfectly happy with MY Smokey." I can only stress again to read the archives and responses you will find others with my different types of bonds, some are happy and some want more.. you have to decide for yourself about the type of bond YOU want. Good luck and please take your time.
