I know of one group of twelve sugar gliders (8 female / 4 male) that are all one family and the only breeding pair are the parents (both wild-caught gliders)... : In the wild, the youngsters are driven away from the family as they mature so incest doesn't happen. The youngsters eventually meet up and form their own mating/family group. In captivity, this doesn't happen so it is our job to be sure that they don't interbreed with parents/siblings.
