Subject: Not hind leg paralysis - so what is it?
Posted by Marianne on August 24, 1998 at 11:08:56:
I've had a male glider, Karo, for almost a year now. About six weeks ago, I noticed he was having difficulty walking. Immediately I took him to a vet thinking he had a calcium deficiency. The vet agreed, gave him a shot of calcium and vitamin D, and provided me with an improved diet and calcium supplement. He was supposed to get better. He's only gotten worse. His hind legs are not the problem. It's his entire left side that he has difficulty moving. I can't seem to find a vet around New York City that has much experience or knows what to do with his case. Has anyone had this happen to their glider or heard of it happening? If you have any ideas on what it could be, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'll have to have him put to sleep soon. Thank you.
