Many people have seen this, females will steal the babies from each others pouches and eat them. Most people advise that females with babies in the pouch not be kept with other females. you will need to house teh females seperately if you do not want a repeat performance.

: My beautiful 10 month old glider Sugar had two pouch babies and we were all getting very excited waiting for them to come out. She shares her cage with Spice, our male, and another female that we rescued from certain death. Her name is Tabitha. Her owner fed her nothing but fruit and nut bars for an entire year, and her nails were curved into her hands when we got her. It nearly broke my heart. She is doing great now, and even came into heat a couple of times and bred. Anyway, one night the babies were there and the next night they were gone without a trace. I can only conclude, yuck, that they ate them. If I ever notice another glider has pouched babies, should I seperate it from the others? Our cage is 2' deep, 4' wide, and 4'tall. I could put a piece of wire down the middle and they could still "talk". Should I seperate her completely, or let her stay with the father and put the other female by herself. I have a feeling Tabitha may have babies soon, since she and Spice were mating about 20 days ago. I cannot even tell you how upsetting this has been. I was making birth anouncements for goodness sake. I do not ever want to experience this again. If I have future problems, Spice will get neutered. Please tell me this is just because it was her first litter. Any reassurance would be appreciated. Has anyone else had this experience. E-mail me or post here. Thank you.
