Tabitha joined us about 3 months ago. Sugar attacked her and tormented her for 3 days until I took them out of the cage together into neutral territory. They made friends instantly. They have never shown any kind of agression towards one another since. I am especially proud of the diet my gliders enjoy. My friend and neighbor is a veterinarian and she says they are quite spoiled, in the best possible way. I feed them a variety of fruits and vegetables chopped fresh each night. They love organic baby greens, apples, pears, jicima, sweet potato, grapes, cantalope, honey dew, water mellon, casaba, plums, hand pitted cherries (cherry and apple seeds contain poisons), snap peas, green beans, corn, and spinich. As for proteins, they get low fat yogurt, ledbetters, crickets, and meal worms. I make a mixture of boiled white meat turkey, plain yogurt, and a little water and puree it in the blender. To all proteins I add 2:0 Calcium and Reptivite. Insects are of course their favorite, but I rotate the proteins daily, as we have had a bit of a cricket shortage here lately. I almost never give them nuts, except for an occasional almond off our tree. Tabitha lost weight when we got her, but has put it back on. She has a disturbed metabolism, I am sure. Her life expectancy has probably been shortened also. Most importantly, she is, I think, happy. She lived a miserable existence befor coming here. Her cage was no bigger than a gerbil's and her nails made it almost impossible for her to move without getting caught on everything she touched. She crabs everytime you touch her, but after a few seconds, she is very loving. She has NEVER attempted to bite any person. I appreciate your interest and help in this matter. I am interested in keeping all of my critters happy, and am not in it for anything else. I don't even think I could ever sell the babies. I would like to have more just because we have ample room in our home and in our lives for them. I would like the experience of raising some babies, but them will probably have the males neutered. Thanks again.
