Hi! There aren't any dumb questions in my opinion. No one here knows everything - that's why people use the board. When I cut E's nails, I use baby nail clippers. Big ones can make nails split. I usually give her a treat to hold in her front paws while I do her back ones, and I sort of wrap her gently in a washcloth and hold her against my chest so she is calmer and doesn't scratch me while I'm cutting. Also, if you can, look at your SG nails in the light (not too bright) while you are cutting. That always helps me make sure I'm just getting the very tip and not the part where the vein is. As long as I just get that dead part (and it's really small) she doesn't fuss at all.
Hope it helps!
