I am very new at this ...I really know very little about sugar gliders. The following is just based on observation .
My sugar gliders are intensely reactive to light. In the dark they are super friendly and super fast. I tried the pouch and having them close to my face. They hated having the pouch opened. I turn the pouch upside down in my hand and gently removed them. They accept this now and sit in my hand even stretch out like a cat a half a peanut(raw) in each hand. I have not removed them from the cage except in a closed pouch in which i place one hand and gently pet. I remove them while they are in the pouch in the cage. I never stick my face in the pouch. I believe they cannot see who it is and they are terrorized. They have begun to come out but they took the first step and ran upmy arm and around my shoulders. They only like to do this in the dark. If you look at the size of their eyes they are capable of sight with little light. A lot of light appears to really bother them. When they are content they talk to you with a kind of chortle. They call to you with a kind of cricket sound I have never heard before. They love raw peanuts . These I only give from my fingers. When they first crabbed they would still grab half the peanut. I do not place any thing on the tips of my fingers because I do not believe they see well in the light and it would make them more likely to nibble in order to know how much was pudding and how much fingers. They appear to like very slow movements and nothing quick and to be talked to softly. When the pouch is turned over in my hand I very slowly pet them with one finger everywhere on their tiny feet, behind their ears.
They can catch a peanut half like a person and each hand seems to work independently. They are incredible!
