The most reliable method is to "roust" them out of their nest...usually with a treat and give them a little time on top of their cage to get "things" stirring. Sometimes putting them on a cotton towel that they have "gone" on before seems to help. Some people even go so far as to stimulate under their tail with a q-tip. I've actually had a bit of luck stroking and lifting their tale when they're just sitting there and haven't quite yet "revved up" to go exploring. My chloe is pretty good about not goin on me, but will cut loose if she even looks at my daughter. They do seem to associate going potty with certain places, sights and scents. Fortunately, their urine doesn't seem to keep a strong odor after it's dried up. So here's my group...Chip usually goes as soon as he is out of his nest (good deal). 'Lilah likes to pee on me even if she is inside my shirt. I don't know if i'll ever break her of that habit. Chloe will usually climb out of my shirt and out to my hand before going. At least I can wash up afterward. Unfortunately, dealing with their potty habits are something that you should be prepared to accept...it's just a part of owning such beautiful creatures.
